G-III Apparel Group, Ltd. and Inter Parfums, Inc. today announced that they have entered into a long-term global licensing agreement for the creation, development and distribution of fragrances and fragrance-related products under the iconic Donna Karan and DKNY brands. Inter Parfums, Inc. will take on the exclusive license, effective July 1, 2022. The fragrances are currently under the The Estee Lauder Companies umbrella.

Karan’s first fragrance was Cashmere Mist.

“The Donna Karan and DKNY brands, which draw from the energy and attitude of New York City, are powerhouses in fashion and fragrance. These global lifestyle brands will make excellent additions to our portfolio,” said Jean Madar, chairman and CEO of Inter Parfums, Inc. “With this agreement, we are gaining several well-established and valuable fragrance franchises, most notably Donna Karan Cashmere Mist and DKNY Be Delicious, as well as a significant loyal consumer base around the world. Upon joining our portfolio, these brands will rank among our largest. We are also planning to launch new fragrances under these brands in 2023.”

Morris Goldfarb, chairman and CEO of G-III Apparel Group, Ltd., parent of the Donna Karan and DKNY brands, said that the fragrance category enables its fashion brands to connect more broadly with a global consumer.

G-III acquired Donna Karan International, Inc. in December 2016 adding the Donna Karan and DKNY brands to its portfolio of owned and licensed brands. G-III signed a multi-year fragrance license extension with Estée Lauder in late 2017.

G-III is very pleased to partner with Inter Parfums in the next chapter of developing fragrance for our Donna Karan and DKNY brands,” said Goldfarb.

“Cashmere Mist has been a top seller in North America since it was introduced over 25 years ago, and the antiperspirant/deodorant is the number one prestige fragrance ancillary. With such a dedicated fan base, we want to ensure we’re also cultivating a new generation of brand enthusiasts for this iconic fragrance,” explained Patrice Béliard, global brand president, Aramis & Designer FragrancesKilian ParisEditions de Parfums Frédéric Malle, and Lab Series, in this Happi story back in November 2020.
