The process that manufacturers of disinfectants, material preservatives, and other antimicrobial pesticides must navigate to receive approval from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is highly complex and can be confusing to a company unfamiliar with it.
Available to the public is a free video entitled, “Antimicrobial Pesticide Registration 101,” which details the procedural steps for preparing and submitting a registration to the EPA for the sale or distribution of pesticide products. The video was created by the Center for Biocide Chemistries (CBC), an industry association comprised of more than 50 companies that manufacture and/or formulate biocide products, also known as antimicrobials. CBC produced the video in collaboration with Washington, DC-based law firm Steptoe & Johnson LLP, which also has extensive expertise on this subject.
Created with a novice registrant in mind, the video breaks down the registration process into a series of easy-to-understand phases that any applicant will face. Links to numerous EPA guidance documents, databases and other resources are identified that will aid companies as it prepares to meet the requirements of the registration process.
