Symrise, a global supplier of fragrances and cosmetic ingredients, has acquired a new manufacturing site in Granada, Spain.
The company, which calls the move a “targeted investment,” has begun production of cosmetic product protection ingredients at the new plant, increasing the capacity to support global market growth with emphasis on 1,2-alkanediols.
Symrise invested in upgrading its Granada site to meet the specific production requirements of Symrise’s high-quality 1,2-alkanediols.
“This expansion shows that Symrise is committed to its customers, to growth and investment,” said Dr. Joern Andreas, president, cosmetic ingredients at Symrise. “It also reinforces our position as a forward-looking and reliable supplier and leader in the field of product protection ingredients.”
The first production trials have successfully met the standards of these Symrise products. With the recent start of the new production line, the plant now produces both cosmetic ingredients and a broad range of fragrance ingredients from renewable raw materials.
Symrise’s 1,2-alkanediol products represent a range of multifunctional ingredients that are increasingly being used in personal care products. Symrise is already producing these ingredients at its manufacturing plants in Holzminden, Germany, and in Monterrey, Mexico. The additional production at the Granada manufacturing site will provide Symrise’s customers with significant growth opportunities in Europe and beyond. It will also ensure that customers receive continuous access to high-quality products from Symrise.
“The product portfolio of the site complements Symrise’s existing portfolio,” said Dr. Peter Esser, vice president, global chemical production. “In addition, investments have started to set up new production lines for Symrise’s Hydrolite cosmetic multifunctional ingredients.”
The Granada production plant became part of Symrise by an acquisition in April 2021.
