Josie Maran Launches Vegan Argan Apothecary Collection, First OTC-Approved Formula

Josie Maran, a pioneer of argan-oil powered beauty, is launching a new vegan, clean beauty and cruelty-free collection called “Argan Apothecary” – the brand’s first-ever OTC-approved formula.
 
The initial launch for 2022 is the Intensive Daily Repair Body Butter ($46), which contains 0.8% colloidal oatmeal, an active, FDA-approved OTC skin protectant that delivers immediate hydration and relief of minor skin irritation and itching.
 
The hydrating, medicinal formulas are focused on eczema relief, according to the company. Maran was inspired to create this new sector from her step-daughter’s affliction with the skin condition.
 
This whipped body butter also contains aloe leaf juice, delivering antioxidants, shea butter rich in vitamin E, essential fatty acids for conditioned skin and argan oil to repair and protect.
 

Consumer Studies

According to the company, in an independent clinical study, 100% of participants saw an improvement in dry, flaky skin and redness after two weeks and 100% showed improvement in skin hydration after one use. 
 
In an independent consumer perception study, 96% said the product immediately moisturizes dry, flaky skin while 90% said skin felt soothed. After two weeks, 97% said skin felt soothed and calmed; 94% reported relief from minor irritation due to eczema; and 94% said it minimized the look of red and rough patches.
