Glossier CEO Emily Weiss is stepping down from her post. She made the announcement yesterday on Instagram and in a blog post, where she named Kyle Leahy as her successor and noted she would be staying on as executive chair.
“To be clear, I’m not going anywhere! Just able to focus more of my time as Founder (and now, Executive Chairwoman) on the areas that I love: product, creative, brand… anything that makes yours and my heart beat just a little bit faster,” Weiss penned.
Leahy joined Glossier in November 2021 as the brand’s first chief commercial officer. She had been with Cole Haan, including time as part of Nike Inc., in multiple strategy, general management, e-commerce and retail leadership roles.
In January, Glossier laid off nearly one-third of its corporate staff.
Weiss said that Glossier plans to reopen its flagship storefront in New York in 2023.
