Haircare brand Mielle Organics only spent a few days in Happi's January 2023 rising indie brands feature, as seen here.
Now, P&G Beauty will buy Mielle Organics, best known for textured haircare and other personal care rooted in natural ingredients sold at stores like Ulta and Target.
Mielle Organics will continue to be led by co-founders Monique and Melvin Rodriguez, as CEO and COO, respectively, and will operate as an independent subsidiary of P&G Beauty.
According to P&G, the deal pending regulatory approval will further expanding access to healthy hair products and services for Black women around the world.
The news caps an impressive period of growth for Mielle Organics. Over the last three years, the founder was able to secure funding from the New Voices Fund for Women of Color and a subsequent nine-figure investment from Berkshire Partners at a time when less than one percent of Black women secured $1 million in funding, according to the company.
Eight years and 11 product line extensions later, Mielle Organics is the fastest growing Black-owned and woman-led beauty brand.
