Actresses Eva Longoria and Andie MacDowell rocked winning looks on the red carpet of the 95th Annual Oscars using L’Oréal Paris. Here, the brand breaks down the hair and makeup products used to achieve these timeless looks.
Eva Longoria’s Modern Cat Eye
“Usually when we do a red carpet look, the dress determines the hair and makeup,” said Longoria’s makeup artist Elan Bongiorno for L’Oreal Paris. This look was no different. We wanted something really modern to match and Ken-set the tone with the hair off the face, so it had to be about the eyes. The result was a beautiful, modern cat eye – not too thick or overwhelming. A nod to Sofia Loren and Old Hollywood, but with a modern twist. And of course, beautiful glowing skin.”
To achieve her glowing skin, Bongiorno used the L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Derm Intensives 12% Vitamin C + E + Salicylic Serum, topping skin prep off with a layer of Age Perfect Midnight Cream.
Then, the artist blended L’Oréal Paris True Match Super Blendable Foundation (Eva’s shade is N3) all over the face and spot-applied Infallible 24HR Full Wear Concealer (Eva is shade Amber) for a flawless base complexion.
Finally, L'Oreal Paris Age Perfect Radiant Satin Blush in Marigold addsedcolor and definition to the actress’s cheekbones.
Aimed to make the eyes the focal point, Bongiorno used L’Oréal Paris Infallible Grip Eyeliner in “Intense Black” and drew a thin, elongated cat eye. She finished the look with coats of L’Oréal Paris Telescopic Lift Mascara.
For lips, Last, Bongiorno used L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Intense Volume Matte Lipstick in Le Wood Nonchalant.
Eva Longoria’s 'Elevated and Sophisticated' Hair Color
“For Eva’s hair tonight, we wanted something that felt elevated and sophisticated, but not too ‘done’ to balance the sparkle of her dress – almost as if she just let her hair down – we went with a look that was down, but flowed off of the face with a lot of luxe texture,” said hairstylist Ken Paves.
For vibrancy and shine, Paves touched up her color a few days in advance with L’Oréal Paris Excellence Crème (Eva wears shade 4 Dark Brown).
He shampooed and conditioned the hair with L’Oréal Paris Elvive Hyaluron + Plump Shampoo and Conditioner, finishing with L’Oréal Paris EverPure Simply Clean Elastic Fiber Masque for added hydration.
Starting with very damp hair, he misted L’Oréal Paris EverPure 21-in-1 Color Caring Spray all over the hair, saturating it with product to create a really luxe texture and conditioned finish. The spray works as a leave-in conditioner and enhanced natural texture, such as Longoria’s waves. He cradled her hair into its natural waves and scrunch lightly to further bring out texture. Next, he placed pins throughout her hair to hold waves in place. Next, using a drier bonnet to dry the hair in place, he then removed the pins and did quick passes with a curling iron over pieces to help frame them around the face.
Going through the hair section by section with duck bill clips, Paves sprayed each section with L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Extra Strong Hold Unscented Hair Spray for hold, while diffusing the hair in place with a drier.
He then finished with a final mist of L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Extra Strong Hold Unscented Hair Spray allover.
Playing Up Andie MacDowell’s Eyes with Gorgeous Blues
To start, Wiles prepped the actress’s skin with L'Oreal Paris 1.5% Pure Hyaluronic Acid Serum and Age Perfect Midnight Cream. She then applied L’Oréal Paris Prime Lab Up to 24HR Pore Minimizer for a flawless complexion that lasts.
She then applied L'Oreal Paris Infallible 24HR Full Wear Concealer (Andie is shade 380) under the eyes along with L’Oréal Paris True Match Super Blendable Foundation (Macdowell’s combination is N3 and N5.5) all over the face. For the cheekbones, Wiles mixed a few drops of the L’Oréal Paris True Match Lumi Glotion before applying, for a dewy finish.
She then added a hint of contour to the cheeks and a flush of warmth on the apples of the cheeks using L'Oreal Paris Age Perfect Radiant Satin Blush in Marigold.
For statement eyes, she applied L'Oreal Paris Infallible Grip Precision Felt Waterproof Eyeliner in “Blue” along the top lashline, and blended blue shadow into the crease and under the eyes. She opted for L’Oréal Paris Infallible Grip Eyeliner in “Intense Black” in water lines and blended up and out. Lashes were topped off with L’Oréal Paris Telescopic Lift Mascara.
The look was finished the look strong while keeping emphasis on the eye by using Colour Riche Satin Lipstick in Shade 766 “Plum Explosion.”
Andie MacDowell’s 'Beautiful, Textured Hair'
“For Andie’s hair tonight, Peter Lindberg’s work was an inspiration,” said hairstylist Ben Skervin. “We went for beautiful, textured hair.”
To prep the hair, Skervin washed it with L’Oréal Paris Elvive Hyaluron + Plump Shampoo followed by L’Oreal Paris Elvive Hyaluron + Plump Conditioner.
To elicit the beautiful brightness of any color, he applied L’Oréal Paris Le Color Gloss to finish the wash routine (Macdowell uses shade Silver to bring out her natural hair color).
Spritz L’Oréal Paris EverPure 21-in-1 Color Caring Spray was spritzed all over before blow drying wet hair. Product yielded a smooth base to begin to style the hair. Once dry, he went in with a small flat iron to curl the hair in a loose S wave shape for a beautiful texture. He then pulled the hair back into a ponytail and twisted it into a loose low bun. He finished with L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Extra Strong Hold Unscented Hair Spray in small sections to define strands and hold the hair in place.
