Scent is a deeply personal experience, and it's no wonder, considering how closely tied our olfactory system is to our memory.
A specific fragrance, such as Viva La Juicy or Chanel No. 5, can transport consumers back to time periods, places and people that may no longer exist in our lives. In the pursuit of understanding the ever-evolving fragrance landscape, New York City-based beauty trend tracker Spate has been analyzing data to identify the top growing fragrance trends in the US this month in search.
Pheromone perfumes (+98.5% YoY growth), known for their ability to enhance attraction and allure, have captured the interest of fragrance enthusiasts and users of dating apps alike. These perfumes claim to be formulated specifically to harness the power of pheromones, which are natural chemical signals that can influence social interactions. It's understandable that consumers are curious about the legitimacy of pheromone perfumes, as top-related searches such as “does it work,” “best,” and “review” indicate. Given the association with love potions or folklore, it's only natural to question whether or not pheromone perfume truly delivers on its promises.
Summer fragrance is experiencing a significant YoY growth of +44.7%, and consumer searches for “the best” reveals a strong desire to find the perfect fragrances for the warmer weather. Interestingly, searches for Reddit alongside summer fragrance suggests that consumers are turning to the platform to discover new products. This presents an interesting opportunity for fragrance brands, as Reddit is a platform that many of them may not invest much time or money in, Spate says.
