US Patent No. 11,806,412 B2 (Satoshi Yamaki, Kazutaka Sasaki, Takashi Matsui, Kazuhiro Yamaguchi); Shiseido Company Ltd, Tokyo,  has patented an  oil-in-water emulsion sunscreen cosmetic, in which the UV protective effect of the cosmetic is improved upon coming into contact with moisture. The composition is comprised of UV protective agents selected from the group consisting of UV absorbing agents and UV scattering agents; a linear higher fatty acid that is solid at room temperature and that has 8 to 22 carbon atoms; and one or more oils having at least an 0.5 IOB, wherein the one or more oils are ester oils, or are selected from the group consisting of polyethylene glycols, polypropylene glycols, polybutylene glycols, polyoxybutylene polyoxypropylene glycols, polyoxyethylene polyoxypropylene glycols and random polyoxyethylene/polyoxypropylene dimethyl ethers.

The  neutralization rate of the fatty acid is 13% to 51%;

The blending ratio (A)/(B), between the (A) UV protective agent and the (B) fatty acid that is solid at room temperature ranges from 0.1 to 4.1.

The  cosmetic does not comprise a surfactant.
