On Feb. 20, The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC), in partnership with MAC Cosmetics and the Spelman Pathways Program, hosted Spelman College’s Convocation.
The lecture series for freshman students featured prominent scholars and professionals across industries and sectors. This was the first time ELC hosted Spelman College’s Convocation.
The Convocation opened with remarks by Mallory Butts, a Spelman student who interned during the summer at ELC, followed by a panel discussion, “Let’s Talk Beauty Presents: Crafting Your Career in the Beauty Industry.” This featured ELC Spelman alumnae Monique Davis, vice president, local & cultural innovation; Jasmin Courtney, vice president, global brand growth intelligence & marketing strategy, MAC; Asha Harris, executive director, global marketing, Aveda; and LaTranda Irons, executive director, organizational effectiveness, North America.
Panelists discussed their career journeys and how they drive industry transformation, champion inclusion and equity, and foster a sense of belonging within their teams. The importance of representation, owning one’s voice and innovative product offerings for diverse consumer needs were key themes throughout the convocation.
