Just in time for spring, Glowbar is gracing Hoboken, NJ with its presence— its 10th studio on the US’s east coast.
The grand opening on March 4 heralds a new beginning of the skincare company’s expansion to new markets. The franchise is setting its sights on Philadelphia, Boston and Washington, DC in the future.
“There has been a significant increase in demand for accessible and convenient wellness services, particularly in urban areas like Hoboken,” Glowbar CEO Rachel Liverman told HAPPI in an email. “Glowbar’s success and positive reception in its current East Coast locations, New York and Connecticut, played a large role in our decision to expand to Hoboken. Expanding to new markets is the natural next step as Glowbar continues to grow in popularity.”
Glowbar’s Creation
Liverman, who founded Glowbar in 2019, is a third-generation esthetician. Her grandmother, Catherine Hinds, founded the first accredited esthetics institute in the US, the
Catherine Hinds Institute of Esthetics. In the fashion of most founder stories, Glowbar was born out of a personal struggle to find an effective, accessible and reliable source for regular facial treatments administered by expertly-trained estheticians.
Glowbar’s 1,300 square-foot Hoboken facility has computerized check-in, a retail product area, wash bar and individual facial rooms. The concept aims to revolutionize the skincare industry with 30-minute, affordable customized and solution-driven facial treatments, Liverman said.
Glowbar, she added, relieves consumer anxiety, “overwhelming” treatment menus and the need for pricey “add-on” services. Treatments commence with an esthetician-led survey that works to understand the client’s personal needs and map out an appropriate treatment plan. Depending on skin needs, these include traditional anti-aging solutions like dermaplaning, a technique involving scraping away dead skin cells and hair from the skin’s top layer to reveal a smoother complexion. Other Glowbar services include chemical peels, extractions, LED, and microcurrent or high frequency facials which lift, firm, tone and smooth fine lines and wrinkles.
For optimal results, Liverman recommends scheduling monthly half-hour treatments and bi-weekly treatments for loftier skincare goals such as an upcoming wedding or other special occasion. Glowbar’s monthly memberships are $60 and include one treatment per month and 10% off retail products. Standalone appointments are $75.
Liverman describes the Glowbar experience in three words: consistent, reliable and relaxing.
“I view consistent facial treatments in the same light as regular massages within the evolving concept we are calling ‘wellcare’—an approach to specialized care that offers a convenient and accessible path to feeling your best,” Liverman explained.
Glowing Partnerships
Glowbar partners with “like-minded” brands. It teamed with Glow Recipe for a past product launch. Next month, Glowbar will partner with Tower28 to gift members with the cosmetic brand’s cult-favorite MakeWaves Mascara. In addition, all facials will culminate with the brand’s new LipSoftie Lip Treatment.
Glowbar customers can also purchase products from retail partner Sofie Pavitt Face while in-store or online at Glowbar.com.
