Retail expansion for the company’s EPA-registered thymol-based cleaner supports how consumers shop for products.
July 26, 2026
By: Melissa Meisel
Thymol is an ingredient derived from common culinary herbs like thyme and is known for its antimicrobial properties. Many botanical oils from herbs, including thymol, have been used for thousands of years in Roman, Greek and Indian medicine as antiseptic agents. In recent times, household care companies such as Seventh Generation have incorporated thymol into its cleaning products.
CleanBoss— the indie cleaning company co-founded by Miracle Mop inventor Joy Mangano and Grammy-award winning artist Armando Christian Pérez, aka Pitbull—is expanding its thymol-infused multi-surface spray to Walmart.
CleanBoss products span from laundry sheets to food wash. Inspired by Pitbull’s late mother’s work as a house cleaner and Mangano’s entrepreneurial spirit, CleanBoss is fueled by their shared drive to create products that “change lives and fight back against the status quo,” according to Mangano.
“CleanBoss products prove that botanical doesn’t have to mean less effective,” she told Happi. “When you talk to actual consumers, they generally want to use better-for-you products, but too often, when they’ve given an alternative chance, it just doesn’t work. So, they go back to what they know. We want to end that cycle once and for all.”
On July 26, CleanBoss will launch nationally in 1,824 Walmart stores and on Walmart.com. CleanBoss’s hero thymol-powered botanical disinfectant is EPA-registered and Green Seal certified. It is lab-proven to kill 99.9% of viruses, according to the company.
Walmart represents CleanBoss’s biggest brick and mortar partner.
According to Mangano: “We spent years proving that there was real demand for CleanBoss—building a loyal customer base, selling millions of bottles direct to the consumer and through Amazon, and seeing our products used not only in homes but in major institutions and high-traffic environments. Walmart was the natural next step because their incredible reach allows us to expand our mission and make these products accessible to millions more families.”
Mangano added, “That doesn’t mean we’re letting up on our other sales channels, though. I think of the way people shop now as a circle of commerce. You might see a product on TikTok Shop and then buy it the next time you’re at Walmart. Many people see CleanBoss on television and then order through Amazon on their phone. It’s a flywheel and every channel helps build up the others.”
In November 2025, private equity group Consello Capital closed “a significant investment” in CleanBoss, according to company officials.
CleanBoss was recognized by Inc. Magazine as one of 2025’s World’s Fastest Growing Consumer Product Companies. It also recently rolled out CleanBoss Pro industrial products, which are used in institutions such as One Times Square, The Smithsonian Zoo, Howard University and LaGuardia Airport.
The company has big plans for 2027.
“Ultimately, our vision is much bigger than one product or one retail launch. We want to fundamentally change what people expect from the cleaning industry—and we have a lot more coming,” Mangano told Happi.
