Like any great accessory, jewelry makes a statement. And according to Essie Weingarten, founder of Essie Cosmetics, the bolder the better. So what better way to offset that sparkling cocktail ring or chandelier earrings than a set of sophisticated lacquered nails.
Essie’s latest collection for Winter 2011-2012, Bling It On, features a cohesive assortment of cool jewel tones. Following its warm Fall 2011 handbag-themed range, the latest selection captures some rich color stories, from a velvet-y tan to a deep blue-green and draws inspiration from the precious stones and metals seen at holiday cocktail parties – think rubies, sapphires and emeralds.
The collection consists of six festive, luminous shades: Cocktail Bling, a precious pale gray; Bobbing For Baubles, a dark sapphire; Size Matters, a ruby red; Brooch The Subject, a creamy cashmere; School Of Hard Rocks, a midnight malachite and Bangle Jangle, a lavender amethyst.
Happi tried Brooch The Subject, School Of Hard Rocks and Cocktail Bling. Similar to a foundation or pressed powder, Brooch The Subject, a nude hue, creates a natural look but with improvement to the base. It could be great for layering with metallic stripes, crackle finish, French manicures or even as a backdrop for nail decals. Meanwhile, School Of Hard Rocks is really unique to what’s out right now in the marketplace. Not quite blue, not quite green, this blend in-between would look great with the 1960s Mod and 1970s Boho fashions that are in style right now. Finally, Cocktail Bling is a true crème dove gray that really pops with a clear topcoat.
"Bling on" these great nail colors for some post-holiday cheer!
