Kahina Giving Beauty joins the master perfumers at Ulili Moroccan Scents in its second candle collaboration, Taroundate ($69). This time, it draws inspiration from the city of Taroudant, at the base of the Anti-Atlas Mountains of Southern Morocco.
The first candle was scented with cedar, clove, ylang ylang, and orange blossom essential oils. However, this new candle IS freshness in a jar! A refreshing base of neroli, an aromatic orange flower, with notes of laurel, basil and rosemary captivate the senses. Also, Kahina Beauty candles are housed in handmade, hand-glazed ceramic vessels.
In collaboration with cooperatives and local NGOs (non-government organizations), Kahina Giving Beauty works to enhance the quality of life for the Berber women and their communities by supporting local educational, environmental, agricultural and clean water initiatives.
According to the company, Ulili Founder Omar Benjelloun uses scented memories of his childhood in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco as his influence. He studied perfumery at the Grasse Institute of Perfumery in France. Ulili works with master craftsmen in Casablanca to create the reusable ceramic vessels.
For over 10 years, Kahina owner Katharine L'Hereux has been building her luxurious line of green beauty products inspired by Moroccan rituals. A true pioneer in the conscious beauty movement, Katharine balances work and family life as a mother of three. Every product from Kahina Giving Beauty features sustainable ingredients that have been responsibly sourced by the Berber women of Morocco. It is through fair wages that these women are able to provide for their families as well. The company also gives back to the Berber community, including the planting of 30,000 trees and building a pre-school. Kahina Giving Beauty’s offerings range from face and body care to all-natural candles!
The candle is available just in time for Holiday 2020 at kahina-givingbeauty.com.
