Ten, the first fragrance for the gay market formulated with an exclusive, patented, man-to-man pheromone based on advanced scientific research, is being introduced by 10% Productions, Los Angeles. The fragrance is formulated with pheromones developed by William P. Horgan, chairman and CEO of Human Pheromone Sciences, Inc., (HPS). Mr. Horgan describes pheromones as the body's natural attractants sent out as airborne signals to others. They stimulate the vomeronasal organ (VNO), a tiny chemical receptor in the nose, which is connected to the hypothalamus, the gland in the brain that triggers the chemicals responsible for emotions.
Ten, the first pheromone-based fragrance for the gay market, has been specially created for gay men who want to improve their self- confidence and create a magnetic aura, said Greg Nimer, founder, president and chief executive officer of 10% Productions.
"Most men's fragrances are either overpowering or they disappear. I wanted to create something long-lasting, but not overpowering -- decidedly masculine, but clean and fresh -- that wouldn't completely take over a room," said Mr. Nimer.
Ten will debut next month. The advertising theme is: "Gain confidence...seduce the senses...get the man." The 2.0-oz. eau de toilette spray will retail for $38.50.
