Cincinnati-based Procter & Gamble Co. is suing its former partner, Coca-Cola Co., for allegedly infringingpatents. P&G executives said Coke's Minute Maid fruit drinks infringe several of P&G's patents onprocesses that control the growth of microorganisms.
Coca-Cola, Atlanta, declined to comment on the suit, which was filed in the U.S. district court for theSouthern District of Ohio. "We just received the filing. We are in the process of reviewing it and willcomment on it when it is appropriate," said Ray Crockett of Coca-Cola.
P&G has another lawsuit pending against Coca-Cola's Minute Maid. The suit, filed in 2002, allegesinfringement of a technology for adding calcium to orange juice.
