A top performing Herbalife salesman killed himself earlier this month at his home in Steamboat Springs, CO, according to a published report.
John Peterson, a member of the Herbalife Founder’s Circle, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to The New York Post. He reportedly earned $3 million last year.
This isn't the first tragedy at Herbalife. In 2000, company founder Mark Hughes died from what the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office called a "toxic level" of alcohol and antidepressants.
Hughes often stated that his mother, Jo Ann, died of an accidental overdose of prescription diet pills when he was 18, which he claimed was the impetus for the founding of Herbalife.
