Gadgets are big in beauty, and a new venture is raising funds to finalize the launch of a special camera that can help consumers protect themselves from damaging UV rays.
Founded by CEO David Cohen and Jon Meyer, Voxelight is the company behind Sunscreenr, a small camera that shows areas of the skin that are not covered by sunscreen or if the sunscreen has worn off. The Chapel Hill, NC-based company has an Indiegogo campaign running currently; it has 300 backers and has raised $152,641on the platform. It has also aised nearly $120,000 on Kickstarter.
Company officials report that development is moving along as planned, with a second proof-of-concept prototype and performing well, and work for converting the functional prototype into the finished product has commenced.
The device is currently on pre-order.
