L'Oréal released its annual global sustainability report highlighting the company’s aggressive push to combat climate change.
Against goals set by its Sharing Beauty with All program in 2013, L'Oréal has:
· Reduced CO2 emissions 77% globally while growing production 38% (85% reduction in U.S.)
· Reduced water consumption in its plants and distribution centers by 48% globally (51% in the U.S.)
· Assessed 100% of new or renovated products using its SPOT accountability tool
· Improved the environmental or social profile of 79% of products launched in 2018
And, in late 2018, L'Oréal signed a global commitment to solve one of the most pressing environmental issues—plastics—establishing a new pledge to make 100% of packaging reusable, refillable or compostable by 2025.
"The role of the largest, most established companies is crucial as they can leverage their scale to make a larger positive impact," says Danielle Azoulay, Assistant Vice President of CSR & Sustainability for L'Oréal USA. "Our sustainability efforts can initiate a powerful chain reaction among all of our stakeholders, from suppliers to consumers, and introduce innovative solutions at a global level.”
