A California law firm has filed a class action lawsuit against Ecolab, Inc. in the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota on behalf of three plaintiffs alleging they sustained personal injuries through use of OxyCide Daily Disinfectant Cleaner and the OxyCide Dilution Management System. The complaint, filed by McCune Wright Arevalo LLP, seeks to represent a nationwide class of current or former hospital employees exposed to OxyCide cleaning products.
Ecolab has distributed its OxyCide cleaning products in hospitals since 2013.
According to the suit, testing has revealed the presence of “dangerous chemicals and compounds” known to cause adverse health effects, including peracetic acid, or peroxyacetic acid. The complaint details the plaintiffs' experiences with OxyCide cleaning products and their health issues following use of the products.
Ecolab, a leader in I&I cleaning, was recently named one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies by the Ethisphere Institute, marking its 14th consecutive year on the list, and was also one of only seven companies to have received Ethispher'se recognition every year since 2007. Ecolab was ranked No.7 in Happi’s 2019 Top Companies Report.
At press time, Ecolab’s media office had no comment on the suit.
