Farouk Systems is expanding from hair care into health care. The company's new Health + Care Division features natural and high-tech sanitizing innovations under its CHI and BioSilk brand names.
Farouk Shami, founder and chairman, Farouk Systems Inc., says he "pivoted immediately" when Covid-19 began spreading in March, when the company launched hand sanitizers under the CHI and BioSilk brands and donated $1 million worth to health care workers. Shami says he dedicated Farouk Systems' manufacturing, innovation and R&D teams to create "products beyond beauty with a focus on safety." The Houston-based business will continue to release new sanitizing products under its new Health + Care Division.
When Farouk Systems first shifted production, its first health care products were its methanol-free CHI and BioSilk hand sanitizers. The products are powerful enough to kill 99.9% of germs, and gentle on hands, due to its formulation that includes organically grown aloe vera from the company's garden, CHI Natural Gardens.
In addition, many of CHI's blow dryers are already equipped with a bacteria-killing feature -- blue LED lights, which send out wavelengths to kill bacteria in the dryer, as well as microorganisms in the air. Back in 2005, Shami was the first to introduce Nano Silver and Blue Light Therapy to hairstyling tools with the help of Dennis Morrison from NASA.
Now, Farouk System will continue to launch new products designed to help keep salons safe, and protect the public. "We want to serve our community, and create useful products needed in today's market so we could do our part to help stop the spread of COVID-19," Dr. Shami says.
Next, expect to see tools designed to disinfect personal and professional spaces, surfaces and rooms using UV and Blue LED Lights and Nano Silver technologies.
