Pilot Chemical Corporation has secured acceptance from the Environmental Protection Agency to add a one-minute contact time claim for SARS-CoV-2 on the label of its Maquat 86-M product.
The claim was attainable through the independent global specialty chemical company’s subsidiary, Mason Chemical Company.
Customers using Maquat 86-M for hard surface disinfection can now claim the product is proven effective against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19, with a one-minute contact time. A 10-minute claim against Bordetella bronchiseptica has also been added to the label. The bacteria are one of the causes of kennel cough and can affect small pets. Customers must update their labels to make these claims.
“As we enter cold and flu season, set against the surge of the Delta variant of the coronavirus and the opening up of the economy, it’s more important than ever to stay vigilant with cleaning, sanitizing and disinfection efforts,” said Richard Rehg, vice president of commercial, Pilot Chemical. “Following label instructions is a critical part of the process and a one-minute contact time can provide peace of mind when it comes to protecting our families and communities against COVID-19.”
Maquat 86-M is part of the company’s EPA-registered quaternary compounds and active ingredient disinfectant product line. It is well-suited for use in healthcare facilities and in a variety of other institutions and businesses. It is available for supplemental registration.
