Cosmetic Solutions, LLC, a leading innovation partner for turnkey private label skin care, custom formulation, and contract manufacturing, has acquired New Mexico-based Private Label Select (PLS), an organic cosmetics and personal care manufacturer.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Funds managed by Lee Equity Partners have invested in Cosmetic Solutions.
PLS President Micah Halpert brings his organic and natural product development expertise to his new role as vice president of business development for Cosmetic Solutions.
“Over the past few decades, brands have shifted to organic and natural formulations in response to consumers’ desire for more effective, safe, environmentally friendly, and sustainable personal care products,” said Halpert. “People care about what products they’re putting on their skin, just as much as they care about what food they’re putting in their bodies. We offer the best natural options for both brands and customers.”
PLS specializes in product development for skincare, lip balms, salves, sunscreens and SPF products, lip tints and glosses, and products for mother and baby. Their expertise in organic and natural formulations dates to 1994, when Karl Halpert, Micah’s father and PLS executive director, first introduced organic lip balms, sourcing from as far away as New Zealand to obtain organic beeswax for their balms.
In 2005, PLS became one of the first personal care factories in the United States to be certified organic to the National Organic Program (NOP) standard. Today, PLS is certified by QAI to the ANSI/NSF 305 standard for organic cosmetics, as well as ISO 22716. PLS offers customers the ability to feature products that are both organic and OTC, including sunscreen and diaper rash cream.
As a father and son business, PLS is a natural fit with cosmetic solutions, which was established in the early 1990s by Mervyn Becker and is now led by his son, CEO Warren Becker.
“I am thrilled to partner with Micah Halpert and Private Label Select to expand our current product offerings and capabilities to include organic and anhydrous,” said Becker. “Our goal is to provide the highest quality, most innovative products to our customers, and this acquisition expands our areas of expertise.”
