Birds of a feather... Scentbird, a subscription-based fragrance company, acquired Drift, a subscription-based car air freshener business. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. It is the first acquistion for Scentbird. The company said that Scentbird and Drift will maintain their separate subscription models, with a bundled subscription offering set to debut next year.
The move comes at a time when fine fragrance sales continue to soar and interest in home and car fragrance is still growing.
Drift has more than 60,000 subscribers. For $8 a month, Drift customers receive a scent in metal, wood or stone form. Each comes with an attachable metal clip. Scentbird offers an array of perfumes, colognes and beauty products.
Company executives say the move enables Drift to scale in terms of manufacturer relationships and foray into potential limited-edition collaborations with Scentbird’s fragrance partners.
