Growing up in Sweden with no products readily available to care for and style her Afro-textured hair, Badria Ahmed begged her mother to relax it straight at the age of seven. This was coupled with the fact she came from a family of strict practicing Muslims and was wearing a hijab from the age of five.
By the time she was a teenager, it was clear that the hijab was not for her. Ahmed then decided to leave home to travel around the world on a quest for self-discovery.
With friends wanting samples for their own hair, the entrepreneur realized she was on to something.
Holy Curls was born and launched in 2019 in London using natural ingredients Ahmed encountered on her travels such as African baobab oil, the hero ingredient in the range, cupuacu butter from Amazonia, Indian aloe vera and more. The line includes a shampoo, conditioner, gel, crème and a curl mask.
Products are sold at The Detox Market, Thirteen Lune and BlueMercury. A Discovery Kit is now available for the holidays. And, the company will expand in 2023 with a hair oil out in February.

Curl Care & Wellness
On her journeys, she finally healed her relationship with her hair, cut it all off to regrow her natural curls. With her hair grown back to its former curly glory, Ahmed experimented with different natural ingredients from each of the countries she visited to achieve a formula that would moisturize her thick, curly, low porosity hair type. With friends wanting samples for their own hair, the entrepreneur realized she was on to something.
