IPSY has partnered with LA-based community activist and designer Dime Jones to create a February Glam Bag.
She first came to IPSY's attention with her nonprofit, Clean Up South Central. It all started with her desire to help during the infamous George Floyd riots. She created a call to action via social media and was able to garner a crowd of hundreds of people armed with cleaning supplies to clean up her neighborhood. The peaceful project, which entailed picking up trash and scouring graffitied walls caught the attention of community leaders and The LA Times.
Following the neighborhood cleanup, Dime established “Clean Up South Central” as a nonprofit organization and has since used it to provide youth with exposure to mentors, corporate opportunities, master classes and creative projects. Her goal is exposure to opportunity, and she has had major success with projects including Foot Locker, Nike and LAUSD.
Driven by its desire to bestow a community voice to Glam Bag, IPSY felt the partnership with Jones was apropos. The Valentine’s Day-colored Glam Bag celebrates one of the brand’s most popular and colorful holidays while highlighting Jones as a thought leader in the Black community during Black History Month.
In 2023, IPSY will continue its effort to support local leaders, creators and artists right in their backyard of the beautiful and diverse City of Angels, the brand says.
