Luxury cosmetics brand La Beaute Fatale (LBF) is the exclusive makeup sponsor for runway shows by Richie Rich, Dur Doux and Randhawa Brands for New York Fashion Week (NYFW).
Additionally, company Founder Nev Tomic was the lead makeup artist for all, guiding a team of 40 makeup and hair professionals in complementing designer’s creations with bright colors, unique textures and themed looks.
“NYFW has always been a key element of how La Beaute Fatale identifies new Pantone colors to launch in our products,” adds Tomic. “This season we wanted to focus on strategic partnerships that would help us lean into creative makeup techniques as we created a custom NYFW palette containing over 74 shades! That is a true testament to how many colors we utilized based on each models unique skin tone.”
Richie Rich
For Richie Rich, which took place on Saturday, February 11 at BKLYN Studios, La Beaute Fatale worked with the team in creating three looks – an homage to Stevie Nicks and her bohemian rock n’ roll style from the 1970s and ‘80s; Richie’s Club Kid days of the ‘90s; and a modern take on disco. The goal was to go bold with all colors while adding an artistic approach to the creative application of the makeup. LBF’s team utilized a custom palette containing 74 vibrant shades of eyeshadow, glitter gels, contour cream, powders, blush and lip glosses while leaning into a dramatic bold eye and lip application with glam on the cheeks/face.
For the Stevie Nicks look, the focus was navy, black and grey shades for the eyes and matching it with nude, corals and light pink lips to achieve a classic look. For the Club Kids look, they went extreme with colored eyebrows, overlined lips and bright-colored cheek bones. The disco look featured applying glitter to models' hair then complementing the look with glitter eyeshadow lining the brows, applying star art and thick eyeliner in bright colors.
“There was no better time to partner with Richie Rich as he was planning for a comeback that was sure to take over NYFW,” adds Tomic.
Dur Doux
In working with Dur Doux, which showcased on Sunday, February 12 at Triangle Loft, Tomic was thrilled to partner with a designer who was showcasing a diverse group of models with different ethnicities and skin tones — precisely what LBF’s collection is about. The Color Dust look bends the concept of a dramatic eye, bringing the powders out to the forehead, temple and cheek bone. The striking combination of a bold eye with an intense lip color made for a beautiful appearance on the runway, which many have never seen before. To give models a hairstyle that worked well with the makeup look, Tomic and her team pulled hair back off the face, applied a teased crown, then smoothed it for a sleek appearance.
“Dur Doux was the perfect match for us as they lean into bright colors and unique textures for their collection that allowed me to develop a makeup look to match the intensity of the outfits,” adds Tomic.
