The Laundress Fabric Conditioners can contain a chemical impurity, ethylene oxide, a carcinogen that can cause adverse health effects if there is significant and direct long-term exposure, according to its latest recall.
On March 31, about 800,000 units of the product were recalled in total,—730,000 of which were recalled on Dec. 1, 2022, as reported in Happi. An additional 13,000 units were sold in Canada.
Consumers are being asked to immediately stop using the recalled fabric conditioners and contact The Laundress for instructions to receive a full refund. Consumers who have previously requested a refund for these products in response to The Laundress’ December 2022 recall and reimbursement program should not submit a new request.
After requesting a refund, consumers are also being asked to follow strict guidelines when disposing of the product. These include closing the bottle tightly and placing it in the household trash, and not emptying the product prior to disposal.
