CHT USA’s $ 25 million expansion is now complete at its US headquarters in Cassopolis, MI. Through the expansion the now 120,000-sq.ft. facility has five reactors and distillation units and sufficient space for additional reactors and downstream processes.
According to Ken Kemerer, CHT USA managing director, the expansion provides the infrastructure to better serve its customers in the Western hemisphere and expand CHT’s markets with innovative sustainable products.
A ribbon cutting event drew more than 100 attendees came to the celebrations, among others officials from local, county and state governments, neighbors and area business leaders, CHT employees and others. The company broke ground on the project in 2022.
"With CHT's largest single investment outside Europe, CHT is taking a big step and doubling its silicone production capacity. We intend to use this expansion not only to support our customers in the Americas, but also to leverage the capacity for our global growth. In line with the motto "CHT first", further steps in this direction will follow,” said CTO Dr. Bernhard Hettich, CTO of CHT Group, who was at the ribbon cutting as representative of CHT’s Global management team.
The CHT USA site expansion has also created approximately 30 highly skilled jobs in the community.
Founded in 1989, CHT USA in Cassopolis, formerly ICM Products Inc., has grown into an industry leader in silicone chemical manufacturing. Known for its technological innovation and stringent quality control, it has developed an extensive line of silicone polymers, defoamers, gels and specialty emulsions.
