The winners of Innovate Together Grant program—a collaboration between Black Girl Ventures (BGV) and TikTok—have been announced, and the list includes startups in the beauty and home care space.
TikTok announced its investment of $1 million to support the work of Black Girl Ventures to increase access to financial and social capital for Black and Brown entrepreneurs. Their initiative—announced in January—drew more than 1,000 applications. The competition was open to small business owners, entrepreneurs or content crators in beauty, lifestyle or consumer goods.
The Innovate Together Grant award winners include 12 people awarded at three different levels (ranging from $10K to $2K). The funds are designed to help small business owners, entrepreneurs, and creators connect with creative experts for business growth.
The grant winners include:
• Kia-Shun Voltz of Shampoo Time, which sells mats designed for home hair washing.
• Celena Gill of Frères Branchiaux, a maker of candles and home care products.
• Candice Walker of Natural Rock'N Hair & Body Beauty Co. LLC, a maker of plant-based skin and hair care products.
• Miona Short of Shukrah, the company behind the Carefree Comb.
• Latoya Stirrup of Kazmaleje, a hair care tools and accessories company.
