In the hot skincare market, Ameon is one cool character.
The beauty brand was founded by breast cancer survivor Alina Mehrle. It has a line of five products including two frozen formulas that are part of a “cyroritual” designed to create healthy, glowing skin.
Mehrle, after being diagnosed with breast cancer at 30 and going through eight rounds of chemotherapy, was left with dehydrated and fragile skin.
“Through this experience, I became who I am now and in a weird way I'm grateful for this. It left scars, but to be alive is to have scars and love them. Ameon was my healing project where I fully expressed myself and was inspired by women and men like me who need to see results but have sensitive skin,” she told Happi.
Mehrle spent two years developing her formulas, two of which are designed to be frozen before application: Glow Manifesto Frozen Essence and Supreme Energy Frozen Essence. The essences are housed in mono-dose molds that are placed in freezer.
“When they’re frozen, you remove a single ice cube, massage it into your face and let it dry. We call it the Skin Icing Ritual,” Mehrle said.
According to Ameon, Glow Manifesto ice cubes offer a dynamic facial treatment with ingredients that reduce visual signs of damage caused by modern stressors like lack of sleep, busy schedules, blue light and pollution. They are said to help smooth skin and renew a healthy glow by hydrating the dermis and tightening pores.
Supreme Energy Ice Cubes promote hydrated and rejuvenated skin while detoxifying and boosting firmness to reduce surface redness and inflammation. Rich in antioxidants and nutrients with a potent amino acid-mineral complex count and fruit acids, this formula leaves skin looking fresh toned, and youthful, according to the brand.
“Skin icing has been around for centuries. We modernized and beautified it and applied science to make skin icing even more effective with our unique formulas that are activated by freezing. With regular use, the effect is dramatic and cumulative,” said Mehrle.

Mehrle worked with artificial intelligence company NWO.ai to create the brand’s “data-driven” formulas.
“At Ameon, we wanted to develop products that make an impact and become a necessity. AI can guide this and give a new perspective. NWO.AI helps us define and analyze the data behind the product formulations and global trends.”
The role of modern science and technology is personal to Mehrle, too.
“Knowledge is power. Data is knowledge based on human experience and curiosity and to have the opportunity to analyze this data—it's priceless. For the people like me, who had a second chance to live because of achievements of modern science it means everything. I want to understand what people really need in the future. How our products actually can be relevant,” she said.

Ameon offers a 40-minute sculpting facial experience using its signature products and unique frozen essences at the speakeasy Retreat Room in Equinox Rockefeller Center in New York City.
“I truly believe that physical and mental health is a priority, especially living in a big city. I love New York, but it can be stressful and with doctors so expensive, it's crucial to listen to your body and be kind to yourself. When I started to heal after chemotherapy and my oncologist told me about cryo, it helped not only to improve the quality of my skin, but it helped to improve my overall health and well-being, both physical and mental.”
According to Mehrle, Ameon recently closed its first round of funding “with incredible people who shared our values,” and it is eyeing expansion outside the US.
And there are new products in the pipeline, too.
“Our team is working on launching at least two new products developed with NWO.AI in 2023,” Mehrle concluded.
