From cooking to beauty, TikTok has become a mecca for tips designed to make life more enjoyable. This ever-growing collection of hacks includes plenty of advice on cleaning, too.
Later this month, O-Cedar will honor the best cleaning content flowing through TikTok and other social media channels when it announces the winners of its second CleanTok Awards.
The Aurora, IL-based floor care company says it has curated some of the greatest cleaning videos and compiled the nominees into seven categories. The winners will be revealed during a June 21 award ceremony—on social media, of course (TikTok, Instagram and online).
The brand held its first CleanTok Awards in 2021 just as many consumers were coming out of quarantine.
“At this time, cleaning-themed social media content was growing rapidly. During this year, the hashtag ‘cleaning’ had nearly 12 billion uses on TikTok and more than 5.6 million posts on Instagram. Consumers were clearly finding inspiration and ‘quaranclean joy’ in this online community – so much so, it had many of them running to the store for the hottest new household cleaning product. As we watched this unfold, we thought it was fitting to host a CleanTok Awards to spotlight the ingenuity and passion,” said Christophe Laparra, senior director, regional consumer marketing, North America, at O-Cedar.
According to Laparra, social media, and TikTok specifically, has fostered a great deal of trust between followers and their favorite influencers.
“People look to these industry creators to provide their product recommendations and tips for a convenient and enjoyable clean. We’ve been very honored to have had O-Cedar’s products featured in most of the trending cleaning hacks that have popped up on social media,” noted Laparra.
The #CleanTok Awards herald the rollout of O-Cedar Pacs, the company’s new unit dose liquid cleaner. The pre-portioned cleaner is designed to be dropped into a mop bucket.
“We hope that pacs will replace liquid cleaning products, as they are easier to use and deliver a thorough clean. Rather than having to Google the appropriate amount of solution, then fuss with a measuring cup and liquid bottle each time you clean, pacs are perfectly portioned and ready to go,” Laparra added.
It is new territory for the floor care company, which is part of Freudenberg Household Products, a division of Germany’s Freudenberg Group.
O-Cedar’s new unit dose cleaner had been “in the works for some time now and were developed with consumer needs in mind,” Laparra told Happi.
O-Cedar is known for its mopping systems, such as the EasyWring and RinseClean spin mop systems.
“We wanted to develop a complementary cleaning solution to use with them. This allows us to truly deliver a full mopping experience,” Laparra said.
“We think Pacs will be a growth-driver as they truly make it easier to clean the hard surface floors in your home. We’re very excited for consumers to finally try them,” he concluded.
