On the heels of a new moisturizer line, Thayers Natural Remedies’ has segued into a new category, which happens to be the largest skin concern for Gen Z-aged consumers before dryness: acne.
The brand’s new acne line – which follows the November 2023 release of the Let's Be Clear Water Gel Cream, Soak It Up 80HR Liquid Moisturizer and the Barrier Bestie Ultra Whip Cream – includes a comprehensive, four-step treatment regimen to clear and prevent future flare-ups, in addition to fading the marks they leave behind for a clearer, healthier-looking complexion.
Thayers’ New Acne Routine
Thayers’ new acne routine includes a blemish clearing cleanser; toner in both liquid and pad form; a double-action acne serum; and a rapid acne spot treatment.
With acne-fighting ingredient salicylic acid and plant extracts like lemongrass, witch hazel and aloe, the cleanser hydrates with hyaluronic acid and soothes skin while improving the skin barrier function in one hour, according to the brand. Next, the blemish clearing toner, which can be applied after towel-drying the face, can be smoothed on to control acne and blackhead formation while allowing inflamed skin to heal.
Dr. Dustin Portela, a TikTok sensation and board-certified dermatologist from Boise, ID, told HAPPI that Thayers’ toner could serve as a dupe to a pricey BHA exfoliator for a young person seeking the benefits of a texture corrector without breaking the bank.
“There are challenges when to it comes to treating acne over the counter,” explained Dr. Portela. “Thayers does a good job in treating acne pre-emptively.”
As many as 92.5% of users said skin looked clearer in one week following daily use of the toner, according to the brand. The toning pads – in addition to the toner – contain 2% salicylic acid and serves as a quick cleansing solution for teens following a sports practice or game.
Isolated pimples can also be targeted with rapid acne treatment. With 2.5% glycolic acid, 4% niacinamide, 10% sulfur and licorice root, the lightweight, fast-absorbing spot treatment serves as an “SOS bestie” to quickly treat an unsightly pimple, per Dr. Portela. It has been clinically tested to reduce blemish size in 24 hours, while preventing breakouts. Sulfur, a plant extract, he remarked, is a natural antibiotic with anti-inflammatory properties that is also helpful in the treatment of rosacea.
Because pimples can leave red marks long after they’ve healed, Thayers’ Double Action Acne Serum can be applied over healing zits to help fade post-acne marks. The serum, which contains a cocktail of 4% niacinamide, 2% salicylic acid, 3% lactic acid and azelaic acid, is clinically tested to smooth skin and uneven texture in one week, and locks in moisture to improve hydration in 15 minutes.
