Summer is officially here in the US, and that means more outdoor time, and typically more bug spray usage too.
Sales Spike?
According to IRI, sales of outdoor insect/rodent control products rose 4.89% to $506 million in total US multioutlets for the 52 weeks ended May 15, 2016. Will sales spike this summer with added concerns over Zika?

Bright Idea
Citronella is a member of the geranium family. In 1943, Philip J. Driscoll of Newton, MA was awarded a patent for his invention: a candle that
repelled mosquitoes or other insects via oil of citronella.

New Wearable
Sterling International, Inc., the company behind Rescure insect traps and attractants, has added a new wearable repellent device called GoClip, which has all-natural essential oils that serve as a spatial repellent to keep insects away. The oils are infused into a porous core that allows a controlled release over a 48-hour period. That core is housed in a metallic plastic cover with a clip that attaches to a shirt collar, waistband, cargo shorts pocket, hat or lanyard.
Staying (Off) The Course
To protect professionals and fans from bites at this year's FedEx St. Jude Classic golf tournament in June, Terminix was tapped to treat the TPC Southwind golf course with its exclusive mosquito service. A patented technology distributed exclusively to Terminix by Westham Co., teams sugar from fruit extracts and encapsulated garlic oil. The sugar acts as a bait; the encapsulated garlic oil acts as a gut toxin.
