Wash-On is the first open platform system to effectively deliver active ingredients in bar soaps, according to Aquea Scientific, Ventura, CA. The company teamed up with Bradford Soap Works Inc. West Warwick, RI to create the first cleansing bar proven to deliver an SPF 5. Wash-On uses a highly-charged cationic system that enables a high deposition of active ingredients on the skin.
The composition includes siliconated capsules (positively charged by a polyquaternium barrier) and a specialized siliconated mixture. Wash-On encapsulates active ingredients in micron-sized particles so that they can be effectively delivered through cleansing and lathering products.
The Wash-On system can be used in cleansing bars with a pH range of 5-6.5%. Wash-On will not affect the integrity of the host formula and is undetectable on the skin, leaving no noticeable residue. Wash-On can potentially be used for the delivery of any active ingredient, ranging from sun protection to anti-aging, anti-acne, moisturization, whitening and OTC pharmaceuticals.
