The Lubrizol Corporation: promoted Dorina Ghirardi to global R&D director, personal and home care. In this role, she will work with an emphasis on providing technologies that deliver valued solutions for customer needs. She will be responsible for the group’s alignment and for directing the R&D function for the business in the areas of synthesis, applications, new product development and technical service.
Ghirardi joined Lubrizol in 1998 as the technical service manager for Europe, Middle East, Africa and South Asia. She has more than 25 years of technical experience in the personal care industry.
Dr. Sanjay Kalhan, Ph.D. has been promoted to the newly created position of global business director for home care. He will drive the global home care business. More specifically, Dr. Kalhan will develop and implement market growth strategies and align and prioritize business development initiatives, as well as develop the business’ organizational capacity.
Kalhan joined Lubrizol in 1995 as a research chemist, and thereafter worked in a number of commercial and technical positions.
Arul Mathew has been promoted to the position of business director, personal and home care for Asia Pacific. In his role, Mathew will direct all commercial and technical activities for the region. Key aspects of his role include regional business, technical and market focus; development and implementation of growth strategies; organizational development and alignment; and providing value solutions to customers in the region. Since joining Lubrizol in February 2004, Mathew has held a number of key roles in product management, supply chain, strategic pricing, sales and operations planning, marketing and commercial strategy.
In other news, The Lubrizol Corporation promoted Malte Ruffing to global marketing manager, hair care. Ruffing, who brings more than 10 years of technical, sales, and marketing experience in the business to his new role, joins Marie Ollagnier and Timothy Roach as part of the marketing team responsible for setting long-term growth strategies for the hair care, skin care, and bath and shower markets, respectively. These changes will enhance Lubrizol’s ability to focus on end use market trends and unmet needs, accelerate product innovation, and define the long-term strategies that will drive the business, the company said.
In his new position, Ruffing will lead strategy development and implementation to drive profitable growth in Lubrizol’s hair care ingredients business, which includes leading global brands such as Carbopol rheology modifiers, Merquat and Sensomer conditioning polymers, and Fixate styling polymers. Based in Frankfurt, Germany, he will work closely with the R&D, product platform and sales teams around the world to lead innovative growth programs based on new products, formulated solutions and focused sales development.
