Chicago-based dry-cleaning startup Pressbox has been acquired by Procter & Gamble.
Founded in 2013 by two University of Notre Dame graduates, Pressbox’s model relies on lockers where customers drop off their dirty clothing around the clock, 7 days a week. Users text Pressbox with the location of their clothing; Pressbox will turn around the clothing in about two business days.
Pressbox has approximately 250 locker locations in the Chicago area, and another 250 in Washington DC, Philadelphia and Nashville. Customers track and manage their orders through an app.
P&G made the acquisition through its Agile Pursuits, Inc. subsidiary, which acquired substantially all of the assets of Pressbox, LLC.
According to P&G, the acquisition of Pressbox further complements the “high-quality services” offered by Agile Pursuits. In addition to Agile Pursuits Franchising Inc.’s 73 Tide Dry Cleaners franchises nationwide, Pressbox will provide continued learning for P&G in addition to Tide Spin.
Terms of the deal were not released.
