DSM-Firmenich Relaunches Alpaflor for Skincare

Bioactive ingredient helps skin adapt to environmental stress, maintain balance and support appearance.

Celebrating 25 years of Alpaflor, dsm-firmenich announced the relaunch of its Alpine bioactive range reimagined for a “new era” of skincare.

According to the company, Alpaflor harnesses the adaptive intelligence of Alpine plants—translating their survival strategies into high-performance solutions for modern skincare.

In the Alps, pristine beauty conceals relentless intensity: high UV exposure, extreme temperature swings and harsh environmental stress. Yet, it is precisely under these conditions that plants develop powerful protective bioactives—unlocking resilience mechanisms that are now more relevant than ever for human skin.

“For 25 years, we have studied how Alpine plants survive the impossible. Decades of botanical expertise, cultivation know-how, phytochemical science and bioactive innovation. Today, this legacy lives on in a complete range of targeted Alpine extracts designed to support skin hydration, protection, regeneration and well-aging—bringing the survival intelligence of high-altitude plants into daily skincare routines,” says Francois Paul, senior marketing manager for skin care at dsm-firmenich.

Each botanical is organically cultivated in the Alps through long-term partnerships with local farmers, preserving Alpine biodiversity while supporting resilient rural communities. Every extract is fully traceable back to its origin through a Fair Trade-certified supply chain, ensuring transparency, quality and positive social impact.

“Every day, skin faces mounting environmental stressors that can accelerate its decline. In the longevity era, skincare is no longer just about correcting visible signs of aging—it is about helping skin remain healthy, resilient and functional for longer. With Alpaflor, we translate the remarkable adaptive biology of Alpine plants into scientifically proven bioactive solutions that help skin vitality span,” says Francesca Pascucci, global director marketing skin care at dsm-firmenich.

The extract is sourced from rare Alpine species, cultivated at the optimal altitude to naturally stimulate bioactive production and harvested at peak potency, according to the company. This approach maximizes the concentration of protective compounds that help strengthen skin resilience, reduce inflammation and defend against oxidative stress.

The result is a portfolio of clinically supported bioactives that help skin better adapt to environmental stress, maintain balance and support long-term skin health and appearance.
