Michael Gruber has been appointed interim CEO of the Household and Commercial Products Association (HCPA).

Gruber takes the place of former CEO and President Steve Caldeira, who resigned from the post earlier this year after nearly 10 years of service.

“Mike has been an integral part of HCPA’s leadership team. His deep understanding of our members’ priorities, the regulatory landscape, and the Association’s operations makes him exceptionally well-suited to lead HCPA during this transition,” said Lisa Pankiewicz, chair of the Board of Directors and vice president, Strategic Regulatory & External Affairs, The Clorox Company. “Mike has demonstrated a strong track record of advancing key industry initiatives, including reform of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), Pesticide Registration Improvement Act (PRIA) implementation, and support for the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Safer Choice program. The Board has full confidence in Mike’s ability to ensure continuity, stability and strong leadership for the organization.”

In April, Gruber was promoted from executive vice president, Government Relations & Public Policy to chief operating officer (COO). In his new role, he will oversee the Association’s operations and strategic initiatives while continuing to advance its mission of supporting the household and commercial products industry.

“I am honored to take on this leadership role and grateful for the trust placed in me by the Board,” said
Gruber. “HCPA plays a critical role in representing the household and commercial products industry and
supporting our members in a rapidly evolving regulatory environment. I look forward to working with our
staff, the Board, and members to advance the Association’s mission and deliver clear value.”

Since joining HCPA in 2022, Mike has been instrumental in strengthening the Association’s advocacy efforts, advancing key industry priorities such as TSCA reform, PRIA implementation, and support for the EPA’s Safer Choice program. HCPA’s Board Chair Lisa Pankiewicz shared that Mike’s deep understanding of our members’ priorities, the regulatory landscape, and the Association’s operations makes him exceptionally well-suited to lead HCPA.
