Maria Del Rosario joined FFS as a fragrance technician. She is a recent graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology and has worked for Nars Cosmetics.
National Starch:
National Starch Personal Care has appointed Ralph Manriqueas Manrique of National Starch |
Prior to joining the company, Mr. Manrique served as the global market manager for Greene, Tweed & Company, a custom manufacturer of specialty composites. Since 1991, he supported a number of companies in a managerial role, including the Connell Brothers Company, Ltd., Crompton Corporation and Witco Corporation.
Sun Chemical:
Appointed Rudi Lenz as its chief executive officer and president. Mr. Lenz assumes leadership of Sun Chemical after serving as senior vice president and chief financial officer and Sun Chemical board member since 2002. Mr. Simmons is an attorney with more than 20 years of experience in advising domestic and foreign companies on compliance with the laws and regulations administered by the FDA and similar international requirements. He graduated from Princeton University and the University of Virginia Law School.
Charkit:
Albert N. Crawford has been appointed vice president of sales. Terence P. Owens has been appointed senior product manager. In his position, Mr. Crawford will focus on new business development as well as sales and marketing responsibilities. He most recently served as vice president of global sales and marketing for Protex International.
Mr. Owens will be responsible for the sales and marketing of specialty chemicals as well as new business development. He previously held a chemical sales position with Alcan International for several years.
Zirh:
Zirh Holdings LLC appointed Paul Schifilliti as vice president of finance. His previous experience includes positions at Estée Lauder and Bumble & Bumble. Mr. Schifilliti will report directly to Brian Robinson, president.Sindhya Valloppillil joins the company as product development manager, effective immediately. Her extensive experience in the field includes similar titles at Johnson & Johnson and Limited Brands, including Bath & Body Works, Victoria Secret Beauty and C.O. Bigelow. Ms. Valloppillil will report directly to Brian Robinson, president.
Fantastic Sams:
Johnny Williams, a former director of operations in the Chicago area, has been promoted to director, Urban and Multicultural Development for Fantastic Sams Hair Salons. In this newly-created role, he will lead the development initiative designed to increase the ease with which minority franchisees enter the Fantastic Sams system. Curtis Taylor, recently a franchise business consultant for Regis Corporation, has accepted the position of Houston market director for Fantastic Sams’ Texas region. He reports directly to Scott Colabuono, president and chief executive officer.
John Calabretto, with over 16 years of experience in the areas of education and salon operations, has joined Fantastic Sams Hair Salons as region director for the Chicago region. In his new role, he will support Chicago area franchise owners

Michelle Kelly has been promoted to microbiology laboratory supervisor at Cincinnati-based testing laboratory, Q Laboratories, Inc. Ms. Kelly has served as a microbiologist at the company since 2004.As microbiology laboratory supervisor, Ms. Kelly will be responsible for overseeing all functions of the microbiology department, including maintaining staff training, upgrading technological capabilities, optimizing the services offered by the lab and formulating and implementing future growth strategies and planning.
Frutarom:
J. Hunter Christensen has joined Frutarom USA as national accounts executive. Mr. Christensen is responsible for customers in the Northeast as well as selected national accounts.He will sell the full complement of Frutarom products including herbal extracts, gums and botanicals. His most recent position was with Citroil Enterprises as senior account executive. Mr. Christensen is a graduate of University of Arizona in Tucson and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications.
BASF:
Patrick Ledjam has been named global sales director for beauty care solutions. Tony Jaillot, previously in charge of North America for beauty care solutions in New York, will take over Patrick Ledjam’s previous position as director of sales Europe and South America. Both will be located at BASF French headquarters in Levalois, near Paris.Symrise:
Andreas Schmid was named head of the corporate supervisory board. Mr. Schmid succeeds Göran Lundberg. Björn Hoi Jensen also left the board and is succeeded by Sanna Suvanto-Harsaae from cleansing-product manufacturer Reckitt Benckiser.
Steinberg & Associates, Inc:
Maria Christos has joined the company as a regulatory affairs coordinator. She comes to the company with more than 14 years experience in the area of paralegal work, specializing in patents and other intellectual property issues. She will be assisting the president in areas of regulatory review of labels of cosmetics, OTC drugs and ingredient declarations for compliance with U.S., EU, Canada and other country requirements.
Ms. Christos will review EU Product Information Packages for compliance with the current cosmetic directive. In addition, she will be expanding the ability of Steinberg & Associates, Inc. to deal with the new REACH requirements as they pertain to personal care products and ingredients.
Botaneco:
Daria Long has joined Botaneco as director of sales and marketing. Ms. Long brings to Botaneco a broad background in business management, marketing, sales management, business development and more than 15 years of experience in the personal care industry.At Botaneco, she will be responsible for overseeing the sales and marketing team, developing and implementing sales strategies, communicating sales objectives to achieve corporate goals and evaluating new business opportunities.
CSPA:
Gretchen Schaefer has joined the association as vice president of communications. Ms. Schaefer has represented the business community on legislative, regulatory and educational initiatives for 15 years, including positions with the American Tort Reform Association and American Insurance Association. She was formerly a communications director for the College of American Pathologists in Washington where she managed critical advocacy communications and developed a proactive external communications program. She has a communications degree from Marquette University.
Takasago:
Takasago Flavors has named Mike Munroe to the position of global vice president, oral care. Mr. Munroe brings 18 years of oral care experience to Takasago, having held key positions in marketing, sales and category management at Quest International, now Givaudan, before joining Takasago.
Shiseido:
Louis Desazars was appointed to the position of chief executive officer of Nars Cosmetics. Prior to this appointment Mr. Desazars was the U.S. president of Beauté Prestige International (BPI), a Paris based fragrance company owned by Shiseido.Mr. Desazars began his career at LVMH with Parfums Christian Dior, holding various executive positions in the international division. He joined BPI in 1996 as vice president for Europe leading the brands through eight years of growth and expansion.
J&E Sozio:
Steve Herman joined J&E Sozio as director of new technology. In addition to assisting with fragrance applications and enlarging the corporate technical portfolio, he will have account responsibility for select business partners.Mr Herman has over 30 years of fragrance experience, and serves as an adjunct professor in the Fairleigh Dickinson University masters in cosmetic science program. He has written a book on fragrance applications and numerous industry related articles. His SCC activities include service as chairman of the NY Chapter in 1992 and was awarded fellow status in the Society in 2002.

Murad, Inc. announced the appointment of Jeff Murad as the company’s vice president of product development. Among other responsibilities, Mr. Murad will continue to work closely with his father and company founder, Dr. Howard Murad, to ensure that the Murad heritage and tradition of innovation continues to thrive.
MeadWestvaco Calmar:
has appointed Daniel Saksik vice president sales & marketing of the fragrance business unit. He has had a successful career at Saint-Gobain where he occupied different positions in the sales and marketing areas, and most recently the position of vice president sales & marketing for SGD North America.
Hirschhorn + Young Graphics:
Hirschhorn + Young Graphics welcomed a new member to their team Bonnie Miller, director of business development. Ms. Miller brings more than 20 years of varied expertise in creative product development, custom print & packaging, film/TV and brand licensing to Hirschhorn + Young Graphics. As the director of business development, Ms. Miller will be focusing on expanding H+Y’s client base in multiple areas. She has worked on both the manufacturing/product and client sides of business and has the creative insight to provide solutions to multiple packaging challenges.
Archway:
Expanded its management team with the promotions of Megan Nelson to director of marketing and Rob Walters to director of operations of the Midwest trade division. In her new role, Ms. Nelson will become more involved in developing and executing Archway’s strategic direction by focusing on sales management. She will continue to maintain responsibility for management of the Archway brand, marketing department and agency partners.
As the director of operations of the Midwest trade division, Rob Walters will lead continuous improvement and operational excellence for Archway.
He will also direct all new client integrations for Archway’s Midwest trade division in addition to the managing the day-to-day operations of Archway’s Rogers, MN, facilities. Since joining Archway in 2005 as operations manager, Mr. Walters has implemented multiple process improvements that enabled growth. Prior to joining Archway he served more than two decades in the U.S. Marine Corp. He earned a master’s of science from Capella University and a bachelor’s of arts from California State University.
