Image Skincare has signed on as the official skincare of the Honda Classic. This is second consecutive year that the company is the sponsor of the tournament, which runs February 22 - 28, 2016 at the PGA National Resort & Spa's Champion Course.
As part of the deal, Image Skincare will distribute more than 100,000 samples of Prevention+ sun protection to spectators during the four-day event. The brand will also provide skin care and sun protection to the golf professionals.
"Our main goal is to raise awareness for skin cancer prevention," said Janna Ronert, founder and CEO of Image Skincare. "We're very proud to partner with The Honda Classic and hope to maintain this relationship for many years to come."
According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, professional golfers receive on average an estimated 217 times the amount of ultraviolet (UV) radiation needed to cause a sunburn over the course of a year. Recreational golfers are at risk too, since every hour they can receive 3.5 to 5.4 times the amount of UV radiation exposure needed to cause a sunburn.
There is no shortage of professional golfers who have been diagnosed with skin cancer; athletes such as Fred "Butch" Baird, Andy North, JC Snead and 2011 Honda Classic champion Rory Sabbatini have all been diagnosed with the potentially deadly disease.
Net proceeds from the golf event benefit South Florida charities through Children's Healthcare Charity.
