Following a series of collaborations in the US with the Milwaukee Brewers and Milwaukee Bucks, SC Johnson is taking its first-of-its-kind sustainability model global through a new partnership with the Liverpool Football Club.
To reduce the use of plastic globally, plastic cups disposed at Liverpool’s stadium this season will be turned into Mr. Muscle product.
The partnership are what company officials are calling a gamechanger, as it supports a clean recycling stream ensuring that more of the plastic can be recycled. Only 9% of all plastic waste ever produced has been recycled. It will also create a new end market for recycled plastic. One of the biggest barriers to plastic recycling is the lack of markets for the recycled material. SC Johnson and Liverpool FC are closing that loop by upcycling the plastic cup waste stream to a specific product: Mr. Muscle trigger bottle. Lastly, it increases awareness about recycling. LFC’s stadium, Anfield, seats almost 54,000 fans. Beyond reducing plastic waste at the stadium, the partnership also aims to raise global awareness about recycling.
