Febreze has released its third annual Scent of the Year: Romance & Desire. The scent—which combines notes of pink rose petals and champagne spritz—was designed to help ignite inner passion for connection and spark an intimate mood in every room, according to the Procter & Gamble billion-dollar brand, which last year marked its 25th anniversary.
The Febreze Fragrance Group, a division of expert perfumers within P&G’s Innovation Foresight of Fragrance and Ingredients, said this year’s research and global trend forecasts found a collective focus on connection and romance, which led to the development of Romance & Desire. Their goal was to craft a scent to create a mood that encourages camaraderie, bringing people together in person to fulfill their need for personal bonding and closeness.
“With the rise of social media and offices continuing to work from home, we’ve seen an uptick in those craving in-person connection in our digital focused world,” said Febreze Master Perfumer Rafael Trujillo. “As society continues to evolve into a digital universe, we can’t forget that as humans our primary need to thrive is human connection. Febreze Romance & Desire reminds us of our love for love–it’s a passionate scent that ignites your inner need to bond with others.”

Febreze Scent of Year History
The Scent of the Year to address how consumers are feeling and the scents they are craving in their home. The 2023 Febreze Scent of the Year was Mountain, which honored the beauty of the outdoors and reflects efforts to connect with the earth while creating moments of zen amid the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
