Beautycounter has entered the fine fragrance category. The new clean eau de parfums are formulated with natural and safe synthetic ingredients that Beautycounter says passed screening against 23 human health and environmental endpoints.
Beautycounter says its in-house team partnered with leading external toxicology firms to confirm its safety assessments.
The scents are sold in 9 mL and 50 mL bottles for $35 and $96, respectively. The EDPs are: Miles Away, restorative woody green floral; Sun Spill, a bright crisp citrus floral; Hyper Rose, a full-bodied floral; Second Skin, a floral amber; and Pacific Cream, fresh citrus aquatic.
Sticking to its ethos, the company i providing full ingredient transparency for the EDPs, which feature natural fragrance ingredients and “safer synthetics.”
Beautycounter said it screened more than 300 natural and synthetic ingredients during the development of its new EDPs, of which only 20% were fully allowed. Several other ingredients were restricted to address potential skin irritation and environmental impacts, according to the company, which recently announced that Founder Gregg Renfrew would return to the CEO post.
In the development process, 60 ingredients were added to Beautycounyer's Never List. The scents are formulated without methyl anthranilate, benzyl alcohol, dethyl phthalate, benzyl benzoate, styrene, BHT, coumarin, acetaldehyde and phenethyl alcohol.
