You Can’t Hide From Dust Mites, But You Can Clean Them

House dust mite allergen concentrations get as high as 10-45 micrograms per gram of dust, according to vacuum cleaner maker Dyson. Dyson microbiologist David Sykes offered spring cleaning tips for those allergic to dust: vacuuming ceiling fans, walls, baseboards, picture frames and windowsills; washing or vacuuming drapes, curtains, blinds and shades; using a face mask and gloves while cleaning; picking up area rugs before cleaning and vacuuming behind large appliances.
