Noveon Expands Personal Care Team
Noveon Personal Care:
The personal care group of The Lubrizol Corporation’s Specialty Chemicals Segment, Noveon, announced several personnel changes.Vivian Tajan Pohl joined Noveon in Mexico as sales manager. She is responsible for managing the sales team and growing Noveon’s personal care and pharmaceuticals business in Latin America and Mexico. Ms. Pohl has more than 20 years of experience in the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industry in Latin America.
Previously, she worked for ISP in Brazil and Mexico as well as for major cosmetics companies O’Boticario and Natura. She has degrees in biochemistry and pharmaceutical science from the University of São Paulo in São Paulo, Brazil.
Alan Suares was promoted to global technical service and applications manager for Noveon’s personal care business. He is responsible for personal care technical service and applications worldwide and for managing the North America personal care applications and technical service group. Previously, he managed applications and technical service for the company’s personal care product area, located at Noveon’s headquarters in Brecksville, OH.
Mr. Suares has 30 years of experience in the personal care industry, including managing domestic and international product development and support with such companies as Unilever Home and Personal Care, Elizabeth Arden, Chesebrough-Pond’s and Carter-Wallace.
He earned a BS in biology and chemistry from Elmira College, Elmira, New York. He was also a 2006 recipient of Noveon’s prestigious Winners’ Circle Award.
Anu Desikan joined Noveon’s personal care group as hair and skin care marketing manager. She is responsible for researching market needs, identifying consumer and technology trends, assessing the best fits for Noveon’s technology, analyzing technology gaps and evaluating competition. She transferred to Noveon from Lubrizol’s Lubricant Additives segment, where she was a market development manager in the commercial development group.
Prior to joining Lubrizol, Ms. Desikan was a product manager at Invacare Corporation with responsibility for multiple product lines, and a product development manager for Procter & Gamble’s Pampers baby care brand. She has experience conducting quantitative and qualitative research to identify consumer needs, targeting market segments, developing product positioning, formulating products and conducting competitive analyses.
Ms. Desikan has an MBA from Xavier University and a BS in chemical engineering from Pennsylvania State University, from which she graduated with honors.

Michael Lacey succeeds Phil Uhrhan in the role of vice president of finance and information technology.He most recently served as president and chief executive officer of Solvay Solexis, Inc. Thorofare, NJ.Valois of America:
Edward Quinn has been promoted to vice president of sales, perfumery and cosmetics. Mr. Quinn will be responsible for the strategic and tactical guidance of the VOA perfumery and cosmetics sales team. Along with his team, Mr. Quinn will continue to expand the U.S. market position and build upon the successes and accomplishments that have been achieved over the past two years at VOA.Prior to this appointment, he spent 10 years at Seaquist Closures as an account manager where he received the Excellence in Sales Achievement Award for Outstanding Performance.
Risdon:
Risdon has appointed Sherri Ruffini to its sales group as key account manager. Ms. Ruffini has 14 years of experience in the cosmetics packing industry. She most recently worked for ATP Health & Beauty Care and, prior to that, at Eyelematic Manufacturing. Ms. Ruffini is a member of Cosmetic Executive Women.ICSA:

Named Steven R. Scheyer president and chief executive officer. Mr. Scheyer joins Ascendia Brands with more than 25 years of consumer product experience across a broad range of retail channels. Most recently, Mr. Sheyer was president of Newell Rubbermaid’s Wal-Mart division, with global responsibility for $1 billion of annual sales.Purcell:
Appointed Lauren Bachelder to its sales team. Ms. Bachelder recently graduated from California Polytechnic State University with a degree in business administration, a marketing management concentration and a Spanish minor.
Chemaid Laboratories:
Daniel Rachmanis has been named chief executive officer for Chemaid Laboratories. With more than 20 years of experience in the beauty industry, Mr. Rachmanis most recently served as president of Fine Fragrance Americas for Firmenich.In addition, Marc Reiner has been promoted from vice president to president of Chemaid Laboratories. Mr. Reiner has been with the company for more than 18 years. Roy Reiner, the company’s former president and chief executive officer, will remain as a consultant with Chemaid Laboratories.
DS Containers:
Brock Manner has been named director of sales, Midwest and George Buckland has been appointed director of sales, East Coast. They will report to Emil Obradovich, vice president of sales, marketing and technical support.Mr. Manner has sales management experience with Bway Corporation and Summit Packaging. Mr. Buckland was previously with AET Inc. and U.S. Can.
Active Concepts:
Announced several appointments to its sales and marketing teams. Sarah Jindal has been appointed director of technical marketing. She is responsible for driving the team’s efforts as Active Concepts expands its business both domestically and internationally. Prior to joining Active Concepts, she worked in business development for BioScreen Testing Services, held a position as market development manager for GE Advanced Materials-Silicones Personal Care business and also as technical marketing manager for Arch Personal Care Products.The company has also restructured its domestic sales team in the Northeast. Reporting to Michael Desantis, director of sales, are Kristen Potts and Sabrina Kautz. Both were members of the Active Concepts technical marketing team. Active Concepts has also restructured its domestic sales coordination team. Reporting to Maggie Ghanem, manager of the domestic sales coordination team is Christy Oxendine, who had been manager of the sample department. Amber Graybeal replaces Ms. Oxendine as sample department manager. Finally, Ashlee Few joined the company as a customer service representative.
Rhodia:
Specialty chemical producer Rhodia appointed Sébastien Meric vice president and global business director for the company’s Novecare home & personal care business.He holds a French business degree and a Henley Management College (UK) MBA. Mr. Meric joined the group in 1993 and held various business and marketing positions in Europe (France, U.K., Germany) and in Asia. Since March 2002, he has been global business director for diphenols and flavors and fragrances at Rhodia Organics.
