Donna Karan Gold earned the grand award at the HBA Global Expo 8th Annual International Package Design Awards (IPDA), sponsored by Happi and Beauty Packaging. IPDA recognized category leaders in design innovation in different channels of distribution and price points, including cosmetics, fragrance, personal care, skin care and professional beauty packaging as well as eco-friendly packaging.

In addition to the IPDA, the following executives were honored: Packaging Executive of the Year: Scott Widro, vice president materials management/manufacturing, Chanel Inc.; Lifetime Achievement in Product Development: Ralph Macchio, senior vice president, global research & development and chief scientific officer, Coty, Inc.; and The Lifetime Achievement in Marketing: Jill Scalamandre, chief marketing officer, Chrysallis.
The New Product R&D Technical Team Award was a tie and went to Bill Zrebiec, senior vice president of research and development; Theresa Abrantes, manager, color R&D; and Angie Goodfellow, vice president production for LipFusion XL by Fusion Beauty; and Maggie Cantwell, product development, group leader; Susan Littell, product development, senior fragrance evaluator; and Desiree Butcher, product development, lead clinician for Jergens Natural Glow by Kao Brands.In addition the International Technology Awards, presented by Cosmetics & Toiletries went to Silab for its Coheliss natural active as a Best New Technology and the Best New Technology Launch went to Cognis for its APG “green” surfactant campaign.The ICN Award: Recognizing Creativity went to Inter Parfums; and the Fragranced Product Marketer of the Year Award presented by GCI was awarded to Dawn Simple Pleasures Marketing Team.
In 2008, the 16th Annual HBA Global Expo will take place Sept. 9, 10, 11 at the Jacob. K. Javits Convention Center in New York and the HBA Annual Industry Awards Dinner will take place Sept. 9, again at the Marriott Marquis in New York.
