Pick up any industry publication or visit a supplier’s or marketer’s website and green initiatives appear front and center. That’s the case at Rhodia, where 33% of projects are devoted to green chemistry, according to Andrew Douglass, market innovation director.
“We must innovate for the future,” explained Mr. Douglass. “The pace of change is driven by the green movement.”
Of course, performance is paramount in every launch and the Rhodia executives noted that several products provide key consumer benefits.
One of these is Miracare SLB, structured surfactant liquid systems for personal cleansing systems.
“It’s a replacement for standard emulsifier systems that still allows the formulator to deliver high levels of actives” explained Dr. Pazhianur.
Miracare SLB is said to be ideal for several skin and hair cleansers including moisturizing or exfoliating body washes, liquid soaps and facial cleansers. It imparts noticeable, longer-lasting moisturizing effects; has unique lotion-like textures; provides a rich, dense foam in combination with conditioning oils and a smooth after-feel.
To help formulators create hair care products that are a hit with consumers, Rhodia has rolled out Polycare Boost, a hair conditioning solution for use in high performance shampoos and hair treatments. It combines a proprietary deposition polymer and silicone oil into a single, liquid system that offers simplicity and flexibility.
Rhodia’s Mirapol Surf-S family of specialty polymer additives for hard surface cleaning formulations promise to make cleaning quick, easy and effective because the polymer binds to hard surfaces and reduces soil adhesion without wiping off or washing away with cleaning solutions. The polymer is available for automatic dishwashing tablets, toilet bowl cleaners and all-purpose cleaners.
With its financial house in order, a focus on meeting consumer needs and a global network of labs and formulating experts, Rhodia executives are confident that they have the tools necessary to bring innovative ideas to their customers faster than ever before.
