SC Johnson has been named to the first-ever Working Mother Best Companies for Kids list. The evaluation considered more than 225 selected questions from the 2010 Working Mother "100 Best Companies" application and ultimately chose 10 companies that believe in offering a wide array of family-friendly programs, from prenatal classes to child care and scholarships.
"For 125 years, SC Johnson has been proud to call ourselves a family company. That means we care about the families who use our products as well as the families who are a part of making them," said Pascale Meyran, SVP, global human resources, SC Johnson. "As part of that commitment, we provide people – including working moms and dads – with the support that we believe is essential to enabling them to excel both at home and at work."
The 2011 Working Mother Best Companies for Kids is based on scores collected from a broad selection of questions from the 2010 Working Mother "100 Best Companies" application. The evaluation measured and scored seven areas: workforce profile, compensation, child care, flexibility, time off and leaves, family-friendly programs and company culture. It also checked the usage, availability and tracking of programs, as well as the accountability of managers who oversee them.
"SC Johnson's proven commitment to instituting practices and programs that meet the needs of its family-driven workforce is what has earned them a spot on this year's Best Companies for Kids list," said Jennifer Owens, Director of the Working Mother Research Institute. "Working Mother proudly applauds their dedication to creating a healthy environment for employees and their families, where every member of their team feels valued and respected."
SC Johnson has also recently received recognition from DiversityInc, as one of the Top 50 Companies for Diversity; the Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index, for the eighth consecutive year; and Fortune’s top companies for best benefits, including work-life balance and telecommuting.
