Using technology developed around rose stem cells, Lancôme is calling Absolue L’Extrait a "miracle" cream. The cream will debut in April in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. It will be carried in the U.S. beginning in June in 90 sales points, mainly Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, and online. In the US, the 50ml will retail for $350.
The technology revolves around the Lancôme Rose, which was created in 1973 and is the emblem of the Lancôme brand. The rose was picked from about 20,000 species because it was the most resilient and has a very strong ability to resist all aggressions — cold, insects, anything that could harm it,” continued Nabi.
Through a new biotechnological cocooning procedure called Fermogenesis, scientists transformed a cell of the Lancôme Rose into a rose stem cell.
Each jar of Absolue L’Extrait contains two million rose stem cells. Absolue L'Extrait also contains other active ingredients, such as Proxylane, which are said to help epidermal regeneration.
